PROJECT OVERVIEW
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Meta Moto partnered to lead the digital strategy for Cross River Rail’s Project DNA, establishing a federated CDE for Queensland’s largest infrastructure programme. Our work integrated BIM, GIS, photogrammetry, LIDAR, and real-time TBM telemetry into a digital twin environment, enabling precise tunnelling, trial of ETCS, and the State’s 3D Cadastre, as well as immersive stakeholder simulations and assurance-aligned asset delivery across all project phases.

The Challenge
The Challenge
Delivering major infrastructure like Brisbane's Cross River Rail or arterial networks connecting nations requires more than technical excellence. It demands a transformation in managing, assuring, and governing information throughout the project lifecycle. Success now hinges on the integrity of digital assets as much as physical construction. Poor data governance, fragmented systems, or lack of a unified digital environment expose stakeholders to risks like regulatory non-compliance, safety exposures, costly disputes, approval delays, and gaps in legal protection and operational readiness. International evidence shows that neglecting digital and physical deliverables leads to loss of control over cost, quality, and accountability. Our global experience indicates that only an integrated, standards-aligned approach combining BIM, GIS, geospatial intelligence, and advanced data ecosystems can provide the traceable, auditable records required by regulators, investors, insurers, and the public. Today’s climate demands accurate, real-time digital twins, options analysis, assurance-ready information, and transparent stakeholder engagement at every stage. Our approach, built on international lessons, embeds open standards, rigorous information requirements, and leading digital engineering frameworks to ensure every project leaves a legacy of trusted digital and physical assets, thereby future-proofing investment, reducing lifecycle risk, and maintaining high standards of governance and public value.

WHAT WE DID
WHAT WE DID
Meta Moto architects and delivers the digital backbone for major infrastructure by designing maturing Common Data Environments (CDEs) that unify BIM, GIS, point clouds, gamefication, telemetry, and asset data within a spatially anchored, standards-driven platform. On Cross River Rail, Meta Moto enabled the transition from legacy, file-based processes to a fully federated, interoperable environment, supporting not only engineering and construction but also the real-time delivery of 3D digital assets from BIM directly to immersive visualisation platforms. We developed automated pipelines that synchronised virtual simulations in game engines with the latest approved engineering and architectural data, thereby ensuring stakeholders always worked with accurate, up-to-date models. The data ecosystem was meticulously tuned to harmonise multiple data feeds and formats, supporting engagement with diverse providers, including Queensland Rail, Brisbane City Council, utilities, and state agencies. Our approach delivers transparent governance, assured data quality, and lifecycle-ready digital assets. This set in place the ability to optioneer design alternatives and deeply understand the impacts of design decisions. The Cross River Rail project is held up as an exemplar and template for digital engineering on major projects. (Reference images from CRRDA Digital Twin – Not to be reproduced without permission)

Major infrastructure cannot afford ambiguity in scope, governance, or delivery. Meta Moto works with boards, government authorities, and investment partners to establish the digital foundations essential for effective decision-making, delivery assurance, and operational readiness. We provide the strategic planning, digital engineering frameworks, and information structures that support optioneering, clarify responsibilities, and meet compliance obligations from the outset.
Our approach enables performance-based procurement, secure data environments, and verifiable asset information, ensuring alignment across all phases of the project lifecycle. In an environment of constrained budgets and heightened scrutiny, Meta Moto helps mitigate risk, uphold public value, and ensure projects are delivered with confidence and integrity.
